Brief

For this project I wanted to choose a concept with much more meaning and a relevance to today’s issues. This would ensure my work is contemporary and up to date.
I choose the concept of ‘clutter’. I will be using the principles of clutter to determine the style of my work, ie, scale, shape and quantity. I have chosen this as a concept as cluttering and hoarding is a huge issue that seems to be expanding today, consumerism and the need to shop for ‘bargains’ make us buy things we may not even need.

Principles
  • Clutter , a kind of collection of sets
  • Cover or fill (something) with an untidy collection of things
  • A jumble of things

I have always been fascinated with 3 dimensional textiles and creating forms and textures, so this project will about experimenting with form and creating more 3dimensional textile pieces that can then be developed into a fashion based area at the end.
Through this project I will experiment with different techniques and learn new methods of working. Experimenting with new techniques will ensure I create a unique set of samples and push my own boundaries during experimentation.

I will continuously keep a fabric book where I will collect different materials in search of the perfect fabrics and materials to use within my work.
