Visual Research
To kick start my project I wanted to take a look at the
places that are the main reason people today are so prone to cluttering. One of
the biggest trends in the years of 2013/2014, was vintage and thrift store. As Vintage
began to come back into fashion and was suddenly the biggest trend to follow,
charity shops were booming. The cheap second hand clothes and tacky ornaments were
now so popular, and being so cheap, meant we were over buying more and more,
unable to turn down a bargain.
Today I visited numerous charity and vintage shops
throughout Manchester and photographed the bulging clothes racks full of miss
matched shirts and jackets. The shelves full off old tacky ornaments and old
kitchen ware, perfect for using as visual inspiration as I move on to do
drawing research looking for shapes that can influence my work.
The mounds of objects and full shelves are a great starting point. I can use the shapes and the collection of items as inspiration for my drawings when looking for shapes to use.
